Yesterday I was going to go immediately from my doctor's appointment to the new condo to paint a ceiling. There's lots of work to be done before moving day (the 26th), and I did not have time to dilly-dally.
Tansy came to my appointment to have Brian and me fill out the last of our surveys for a research study. While we rated our feelings on a scale from "strongly agree" to "strongly disagree," Tansy knitted a lavender hat for her daughter. "I knit too," I said, after Brian pointed out her knitting needles.
She said she was madly trying to finish the project by Christmas. I told her how my family is accustomed to getting gifts from my mom with the knitting needles still in them. I don't even remember how many mostly-knit sweaters I've received over the years.
She told me about a yarn shop that is very near the hospital, and I fully intended to NOT stop there, but darn it if I didn't find myself looking for the shopping center anyway. I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to see it amid all of the other stores, but it was very easy to find and I came away with new yarn. I got some self-ruffling yarn for making foofy scarves (purple/black and orange/red), a furry yarn that looks more like the real thing than fun fur, and enough sparkly navy blue sock yarn to make myself a pair of glittery socks. Or I could make socks for somebody else, but I can't think of anybody who would appreciate sparkly socks quite as much as I would.
